Inspired by a vast variety of conceptual musicians including Johnny Hobo and the freight trains, Nirvana, Modest Mouse, Daniel Johnston, and Pink Floyd, this album fuses the raw power and witty lyricism of folk punk with the distortion heavy lofi sound of 90s garage rock, recorded almost primarily on a cell phone. This album is a conceptual story of my life up until the point where I decided to get sober and start my journey transitioning my gender. We start from my views of the world as a small jewish child, overcoming trauma, bullying, substance abuse and a molotov cocktail of mental health issues, leading up until the point where I was ready to say goodbye to a lifestyle that no longer fit me. Turn the volume ALL the way up for this one, pour a non-alcoholic drink, and sit back while you get to experience the roller-coaster of my life that is Clean Up or Die: Act 1.
